Worldwide digital music sales for 2005 total $1.1 billion
According to this Internet Retailer article, sales almost tripled over 2004 and now account for about 6% of revenue for record labels.
Another interesting tid-bit: "Mobile music now accounts for approximately 40% of record company digital revenues." It doesn't say whether or not that includes ringtones, some of which barely qualify as music, but I would assume that it does. Also wondering what the sales of non-music audio files are as I'm assuming that the IFPI does not care to report on those, unless of course the rights are owned by one of their members.
